The visa is stamped, the flight is booked, the offer letter is in the bag — and that's when most consultancies disappear. Not us. Our relationship with your family doesn't end when you board the plane. We brief you on everything from forex strategy to first-week settling, then check in for the first 90 days after arrival.

Pre-departure briefing (3-hour session)

Held in our Sector 67 office or online, 1–2 weeks before your flight:

  • Forex strategy — when to buy, how much to take in cash vs forex card, multi-currency cards (Niyo, Hop Remit, BookMyForex, ICICI ForexPlus). Currency-specific tips.
  • Accommodation — university housing vs private rentals; how to spot scams; first-week temporary stay options (Airbnb, hostels, university guest rooms).
  • Banking — opening a local bank account in the destination country; remittance from India (Wise, Western Union, RemitNow, Niyo).
  • SIM cards & connectivity — getting a local SIM on day 1, esim options that work the moment you land, comparing local plans.
  • Insurance — university-mandated insurance (OSHC in Australia, GHIP in Canada, NHS in UK) vs private; what's covered, what's not.
  • Documents to carry — original transcripts, attestations (apostille / WES / ENIC-NARIC), I-20 / CAS / CoE, passport with visa, financial proofs.
  • Cultural orientation — country-specific expectations (tipping in US, queueing in UK, drinking water culture in Germany, etc.).
  • Money management — how to live on a student budget; meal planning; transport passes; second-hand textbook strategies.

First-week post-arrival checklist

  1. Activate visa at port of entry (Canada GIC release, US I-20 stamp, etc.)
  2. Check into accommodation
  3. Activate local SIM
  4. Apply for tax/social ID — SIN (Canada), SSN (US), TFN (Australia), IRD (NZ), NI (UK)
  5. Open local bank account
  6. Register at university — submit documents, get student ID, enroll in courses
  7. Complete health checks / vaccinations as required
  8. Register at city council / Anmeldung (Germany) / GP registration (UK)
  9. Buy term-time essentials (winter clothes if going north, kitchen basics)
  10. Send a quick "safely arrived" message to parents and to us

What ongoing support looks like

  • Day-30 check-in — quick WhatsApp call: how's settling going, any issues with university, accommodation, finances?
  • Day-90 check-in — broader review: are you happy with the program? part-time work? friend group? mental health?
  • 24/7 crisis line — if something goes wrong (medical emergency, accommodation issue, academic crisis, family emergency back home), our team is one WhatsApp away.
  • Visa & PR planning — as you approach graduation, we re-engage on PSW visa, OPT, Graduate Route, EU Blue Card, or PR pathway as relevant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge separately for pre-departure briefing?
No — for full-service Intellect Globe students, pre-departure is included. We do offer it as a paid one-off (₹3,500) for students who used another consultancy or applied independently.
How much money should I carry to my destination?
Generally — equivalent of 1 month's living costs in the destination currency, split as: ~30% cash (small bills), ~50% on a forex card, ~20% in your Indian account (which you can transfer once you open a local account). Specific amounts: Canada ~CAD 3,500–4,000; UK ~£2,000–2,500; Australia ~AUD 4,000–4,500; US ~USD 3,500–4,500.
Should I open a forex card before leaving India?
Yes — pre-load a forex card before flying. ICICI ForexPlus, HDFC Multi-Currency, Niyo Global, BookMyForex are all good options. Niyo Global has the best rates currently (matches Google rates) but requires KYC + a few days. Standard banks issue cards same-day.
What if I face a problem after I arrive?
WhatsApp our team — 24/7 line is genuine. Most issues we've seen: accommodation problems (host changes mind, fraud), bank account opening issues, university registration delays, lost documents. We help solve these remotely or escalate to local partners as needed.
Can my parents stay in touch with you after I leave?
Yes — and many do. We do parent-only check-in calls quarterly for the first year, especially helpful if there's a family member abroad for the first time and parents want reassurance. No extra charge.
